Please join us at the 2024 annual Environmental Symposium on Friday, November 1, for a full day of environmental learning and networking with the region’s public and private sector environmental professionals, researchers, and students. Topics will include presentations on mitigation planning, sea level rise, forest management and water storage, environmental justice, and more. A full agenda is forthcoming! The event will be held at the University of West Florida’s Conference Center in Pensacola, Florida.
Important Dates:
- Abstract submissions are open until September 13
- Registration by October 12
- Late Registration begins October 22 (and at a higher rate)
- Symposium is Friday, November 1, at the University of West Florida
If you wish to present at the Symposium, either during the student hour (poster presentation) or give an oral presentation, please submit your abstract and presentation details using this form or by email by September 13, 2024, 2024 NWFAEP Symposium Abstract Submission Form.
Types of Presentations
Short Oral Presentations – Individual Full-Length Talk (15-20 minutes)
Each speaker is allotted 15-20 minutes, including time for questions.
Extended Oral Presentations – Individual Full-Length Talk (25-30 minutes)
Each speaker is allotted 25-30 minutes, including time for questions.
Poster Presentations (Student Hour; open to high-school, undergraduate, and graduate students; individual and groups)
For those wishing to submit poster abstracts, know that poster sessions will allow each presenter to discuss their research with multiple viewers and answer questions accordingly.
Panel Sessions (You are submitting for the entire panel)
Panel sessions focus on a unified topic, with multiple brief (10 -15 minutes each) presentations and a moderated discussion by the panel organizer. Panel sessions require just one abstract, submitted by the organizer. Please advise each panelist that they must pay the registration fee.
Participatory Session (e.g., Workshops, Instruction, Demonstration)
If you want to organize a workshop or field trip, please contact the NWFAEP Symposium Planning Committee (nwfaep@gmail.com) by September 1, 2024. We are looking for creative, original, and compelling ideas.
NOTE: The Planning Committee will make every effort to accommodate your preferred presentation type. However, it will ultimately be up to the committee to decide where abstracts fit best within the program.
Abstract Preparation
Please submit the following information with your abstract.
- Name, title, employer, full mailing address, email address, phone number of the main contact, presenter, and co-presenters. Also include co-author(s) information.
- Type of presentation
- Abstract title
- Abstract (350 words or fewer)
Membership in NWFAEP is encouraged but not a requirement for presentation. Chapter members will receive information regarding discounted registration. Abstracts are being sought on any topic related to environmental sciences. Some themes include, but are not limited to, environmental justice, mitigation planning, sea level rise, regional food sustainability, and local projects. We are open to your ideas related to various environmental subjects!

- Students: $30* some scholarships to cover the registration cost will be provided for student presenters (details below)
- Speakers: no charge
- FAEP Members: $50
- Non-members: $90
